“I have done a lot of touring over the years and sometimes you run into problems and need some repair work done. While on tour in Pensacola, my horn decided to stop working. I panicked! A local suggested that I should go to Schmidt’s Music. The trumpet I was playing at the time was my father’s horn and I was really nervous about letting someone I had never met work on it. I shouldn’t have been nervous. I walked into the store and the staff took great care of me. These guys were top notch in their customer service and their repair work. I have never brought any of my horns to any other place since. I stop by every time I am in the area and even send other New Orleans musicians over to Schmidt’s. It’s the best place for your horn to be when it needs a little TLC. I trust them and so should you.”

We are the only repair shop in the area with an ultrasonic cleaning tank. Ultrasonic cleaning is the safest, most effective way to clean musical instruments, parts, and mouthpieces. It’s essentially the same process that a jeweler would use to clean precious stones and settings, but on a much larger scale. The item being cleaned is submerged into a special tank filled with liquid (water and a mild detergent) and a transducer generates ultrasonic waves which cause an agitation effect. The sound waves thoroughly clean all surfaces, bends and crevices, eliminating the need for harsh chemicals or solvents. Contact us to learn more, or to schedule an appointment for your instrument to be ultrasonically cleaned.
Please note: Not all repair shops have the capability for ultrasonic cleaning, so be sure to ask before you let someone service your instrument.
